This program offers students from all over the world a short-term study abroad experience focusing European Union Politics, Human Rights, and Economics. The program includes various excursions and activities and no German language experience is required. This 4 week summer program is designed for students of any major with an interest in European Politics and Society. The program offers two track options and also includes a German language and culture module. All classes are taught in English and no prior experience with German is required. A key feature of the program is integrated excursions to locations such as the historic center and government district of Berlin, the European Parliament in Strasbourg, and the financial district in Frankfurt (excursion locations subject to change each year). Also included are local cultural activities, social gatherings, and a buddy program to connect with University of Tübingen students. Students choose between two tracks, each with an area of focus within EU / European policy, politics, culture, society, history, and identity. All students will also take part in a German language course and an intercultural workshop. See details here.
Credits awarded depend on the student’s home university policy. Students are likely to earn 5-6 Oregon quarter credits for the EU / Europe track and 2 Oregon quarter credits for the Language and culture module.
Accommodation will be arranged by the University of Tübingen and is covered by the program fee. Tübingen is a university town with a high number of students and availability of rooms in student dormitories is limited.
Depending on availability, you will be either accommodated in a guest house, with a host family, in a student shared flat or in a student dorm. You will either have your own room or share it with one other program participant. Kitchen and bathroom are shared.
