The M&Y Group is a small company dedicated to personal development education and leadership programming for children in Shanghai, China. The international team has more than 10 years of cross-cultural education experience and offers Life Skills Programs to help students between 4 and 18 years old develop and fulfill their potential to the maximum. The program focuses on four key skill areas: presentation, leadership, organization, and finance.

Interns will work as facilitators, assisting with Life Skills classes in English and supporting student and parent follow-up. Depending on experience, interns may also have the opportunity to lead classes independently. Students interested in business and marketing may also work on material development, social media updates, and website management. Ideal for students looking for first-hand exposure to education, cross-cultural marketing, training, and Life Skills programming.

The M&Y Group is a young and dynamic company located in Shanghai, dedicated to helping children and teenagers develop the life skills needed to live happy and successful lives. Their yearlong and camp programs encompass four key life skills: presentation, leadership, organization, and finance. Their value is that they make serious topics fun and engaging, through project-based activities guided by facilitators, leading children to self-discover, create, and communicate in new ways.

Founders Yuliana and Margarita are passionate about education and creating change for the best. They have extensive international experience in education and wanted to share the positive results of personal development education with children of all ages. M&Y Group runs programs year-round, including intensive camps during summer and winter school breaks. Interns have two options and may be involved in a combination of tasks. Interns will apply their knowledge and learn about: presentation skills, leadership skills, organization skills, money management, class facilitation, curriculum design, communication, and aspects of Chinese culture and business.

Life Skills Course Facilitator

Interns will work closely with M&Y trainers to support Life Skills classes, following structured curriculum. Depending on experience, interns may have the opportunity to lead classes independently. Interns will also be involved in communication with parents and report-writing.

Marketing Coordinator

Interns will assist the marketing manager with the development of promotional materials, activities, and events. Interns will also have the opportunity to support social media activities and update the website.

Academic Background

  • Students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Coursework in youth education, ESL, development, business, or coaching/leadership will be especially helpful.

Skills / Experience

  • Interns must love working with children of different ages and have a passion for self-development. Experience working with children or teenagers is preferred. Other experience in coaching, education, leadership, or life skills is a plus.

Language Requirements

  • Classes are all taught in English and English is the working language of M&Y Group. Mandarin Chinese is used in communication with parents, clients, and when out and about in Shanghai. Knowledge of Chinese is a plus, but not required.

Other Requirements

  • Interns must bring their own laptop and smartphone to use during the internship. Both items are required tools.

Estimated One-Time Expenses

  • IE3 Global Program Fee: $3,450
  • International Travel: $1,800

  • Recommended Immunizations: $400

  • Local Transportation: $200
  • Recreation: $200
  • Personal Expenses: $200

Qualified interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend of 400-900 CNY (approximately $75-150). This will help offset expenses for work travel and phone usage.

M&Y Group can help with locating and arranging housing, typically a shared apartment. Private apartments or budget hotels may also be available for an additional cost. Interns are responsible for all housing costs. Interns may also choose to find their own accommodation.
