Housing is provided and interns are able to take part in organized social activities. 

Students are matched to internships based on industry interest, professional and academic experience, and regional preference. InternChina works across a variety of industries including architecture, athletics, design, education, engineering, finance, hospitality, IT/technology, law, logistics, marketing, media, NGOs, sales, science, trade, and translation.

The sectors that InternChina places interns in and their tasks include, but are not limited to:

- Marketing: increasing, monitoring and analyzing social media coverage, seeking, and approaching new markets, collecting marketing material (blog writing, pictures, video editing etc.)

- Sales: handling enquiries from clients and customers, producing quotes, providing support and assistance throughout the sales process

- Design: designing marketing materials, producing portfolios for new products, creating prototypes

Other sectors include: engineering, law, finance, NGO, media, and logistics.

Interns will not only be able to practice the skills they have developed during their academic studies but will also be able to gain new skills depending on the internship that they are doing. The internships that InternChina provides not only give interns the opportunity to expand their professional skillset and knowledge of international business, but also the opportunity to grow in confidence, acquire a cross-cultural understanding, and test their soft skills such as independence, leadership, time management, organization, critical thinking, and listening.

Academic Background

Students from all academic fields and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Specific requirements and experience will be determined by the company and the certain roles to be undertaken.

Skills/Experience

All interns are expected to possess good communication and teamwork skills as well as an enthusiasm to learn, be proactive, and ask questions. Relevant experience in the field of interest is strongly encouraged but not always required. Additional documentation such as portfolios or references may be requested for specific positions.

Language Requirements

All interns will work with an English-speaking supervisor and as such interns must possess fluent English language skills. Other language requirements vary from company to company depending on the company's business needs and main markets. Mandarin is sometimes required and often considered an asset; so too are other European and South American languages such as French, German, and Spanish.

Other Requirements

Interns will be expected to come to China with their own working laptop. Other software for specific use will likely be provided by the host company if required for their projects. Companies will notify the intern prior to their internship if any other equipment is necessary.

Estimated One-Time Expenses

IE3 Global Program Fee: $3,450

Host Site Fees: $2,960 (10 weeks) - $4,340 (24 weeks)*

International Travel: $1,500

Visa Fees: $200

Recommended Immunizations: $400

Estimated Monthly Expenses

Housing: Included in Host Site Fee

Food: $100-250

Local Transportation: $100

Recreation: $150

Personal Expenses: $100

 

Additional Expense Information

The host site fee for InternChina covers the costs associated with placement, support, and housing in China. Services covered by this fee include:

  • Airport pick-up
  • Accommodation in homestay or shared apartment (homestay includes two meals/day)
  • Visa support
  • Registration with local police upon arrival (required by law)
  • 24/7 emergency support
  • In-country orientation
  • Welcome package including map, guide, SIM-card, dictionary, t-shirt, and local info
  • Option to join trips and events with other students

* Amounts are subject to change without notice depending on current exchange rates.

Interns can choose between a local homestay or a room in a shared apartment with other interns. Homestay includes breakfast and evening meal. Apartment includes all utilities, maintenance, TV, and wireless internet. Interns are welcomed at the airport and taken to their accommodation on arrival.
