CarPal is seeking talented students with a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation to join their team. Students with strong English skills and an interest in business and/or marketing can work in a variety of areas. This is a paid internship available for one or two terms.

CarPal is a Singaporean start-up that is changing the way goods move in cities. Started in 2014 by Dutch innovator and entrepreneur Maarten Hemmes, CarPal was born from the idea that technology represents a fundamental part of last-mile delivery. They are pioneering on-demand delivery services based on the sharing economy, reshaping the technology to be more agile, lean, and customer-focused. Although CarPal started as a same-day delivery service company, they continue to innovate with their SaaS product to improve efficiency and scalability through one dashboard. CarPal operates in multiple cities in Southeast Asia and is rapidly growing.

CarPal is seeking interns that are ready for the dynamic, collaborative, and driven environment of a tech start-up. All candidates should be self-starters, curious, entrepreneurial, collaborative, and excellent communicators. Interns can expect to work on a variety of tasks and may work on several projects simultaneously. CarPal is always looking for marketing and business interns to support ongoing and new projects.

Marketing & Business Interns

Work alongside CarPal’s experienced managers to support organizational and business needs. General business interns will work across the organization (operations, marketing, sales, business development, engineering, human resources, and administration. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

As the company is constantly growing, interns can expect to support business development and market research of potential global markets. Prior experience in research and development, market research, analysis, business development, and communications is preferred.

Students with a specific interest in marketing, journalism, or communications may also take on a more marketing-centric role. Prior experience in social media/email/digital/content marketing, lead generation, event management, Google AdWords/Analytics, content creation, and advertising is preferred. Tasks may include:

  • Assisting in marketing content creation process (e.g. infographics, videos, articles)
  • Creating customer and driver satisfaction surveys and tracking results
  • Loyalty program monitoring and execution
  • Social media postings and account management
  • Monitoring marketing/ad campaign results across all platforms
  • Assisting in event/trade show planning and execution

Academic Background:

This internship is suitable for students from a range of academic backgrounds. Candidates are encouraged to have taken courses in business, entrepreneurship, communications, English, journalism, marketing, and advertising.

Skills / Experience:

Prior experience working within a start-up environment is preferred. All candidates should be able to work collaboratively and be self-motivated (able to work with minimal supervision).

Language Requirements:

This is an English language internship and interns should have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Other Requirements:

Interns must be eligible for the Singapore Work Holiday Pass.

Estimated One-Time Expenses

  • IE3 Global Program Fee: $3,450

Budgeting Note: Estimated costs are based on typical internship-related costs and a modest standard of living. Each intern’s costs will vary based on lifestyle choices (eating out vs. cooking, taking public transportation vs. taxis) and recreational spending (travelling on days off, hobbies, etc).

Interns will receive SGD $1,000/month. Interns are responsible for following all local laws relating to income and tax liability.

Interns are responsible for finding and arranging their own accommodations. Singapore has strict rules regarding short-term rentals for foreigners (less than three months), so interns should plan ahead to arrange suitable accommodations.
